Boys' 1st Dentist Visit

I want to go to the boys' dentist. She has flatscreens on the ceiling! At every exam/cleaning/fill-&-drill chair in the place! Cool-looking sunglasses so you can still watch the TV with the bright exam light on. Headphones. A treasure box for when you're done. NOT FAIR!

Alexander wasn't fazed in the least at his appt. and follow-up cleaning. He let them take several x-rays, prod around his teeth and gumline. . .Just don't get in his view of the TV. And don't expect him to answer any questions or carry on a conversation. Cartoons are on.

Aidan did so-so at the initial appt. He kept wiggling during the x-rays, so that took a few tries. He was doing okay with the dentist until she checked his gumlines. As soon as he felt that little piece of metal he became as stiff as a board. He had some nasty cavities in a couple of baby molars, so he needed fillings in one tooth and a crown on another. We also opted to put sealants on all his permanent molars as they are 'groovy' like mine. Well, we all know Aidan. There is NO WAY IN HELL he would ever have gotten through any of that dental work, PLUS a cleaning, so I opted to have him sedated. I knew that would work as that's what we did the last time he had a VCUG done. Worked like a charm! Did it all in one fell swoop. The question is, will the dental hygienist be able to clean his teeth in October without him coming unglued? I have no intention of sedating him for a cleaning. . .
